AH4NC participates in “Mission 85” Retreat. Mission 85 is a collaboration of leaders from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the North Carolina Department of Military & Veterans Affairs (NCDMVA), the South Carolina Department of Veterans Affairs (SCDVA), the Georgia Department of Veterans Services (GDVS), and several non-profit Veteran leaders from across the Southeast, including Veterans Bridge Home (VBH), The Warrior Alliance (WA), and Upstate Warrior Solution (UWS).
Mission 85 conducted a Retreat in Columbia, SC, on July 11-13, 2022, called “Mission 85: East Creek,” which was designed to strengthen and align regional efforts to improve veteran services across GA, SC, and NC, by connecting committed partners, developing common vision, learning the latest insights and ideas, sharing resources, and committing to action.
VBH invited AH4NC to participate in Mission 85: East Creek, in recognition of the synergy between the organizations and because of the complementary and mutual missions of VBH and AH4NC. As a guest of VBH, AH4NC President Jim Hoffman participated in an active, open dialogue about how we can work together beyond the traditional and institutional boundaries to better serve Veterans and their families.
VA representatives incuded VA’s Veteran Experience Officer John Boerstler and his Chief of Staff, Jason Thomas. The workshop sessions engaged participants in reviewing and commenting on VA’s soon-to-be published VEO Playbook for Community Veteran Engagement Boards (CVEBs).
Secretary Walter Gaskin and Assistant Secretary Terry Westbrook represented the NCDMVA, and they actively participated in discussions over the two-day workshop.
